Milan, March 5 2015 – REMIX, the international fashion and fur competition organized by The International Fur Federation (IFF) and supported by Vogue Talents, named its winning designers last night at its annual award ceremony in Milan.
This year Yusuf Kalem // Turkey was awarded the Gold prize. Yusuf wowed the jury with three looks inspired by green jewel beetle wings that adorn the ceiling in a palace in Belgium and with his fur garments with fox spin and mink. The designer, who is graduated from Yeditepe University and he would like to work – in his future – in an important maison focused on leather.
The jury, composed of Sara Maino (senior editor of Vogue Italia & Vogue Talents) Gian Luigi Paracchini (fashion critic at Corriere della Sera), Tamu McPherson (American blogger author of All the Pretty Birds and street-style photographer), Gabriele Colangelo (fashion designer) and Malcolm Mcinnes (Group Director of the Education at Istituto Marangoni), selected Yusuf Kalem innovative design, from over 36 garments presented.
The REMIX Silver prize went to Sophie Sälekari // Finland for her using of Saga Furs royal mink mixed with calfskin, Swarovski, crystal, glass bead and paillettes in her piece. Originally from Finland, she graduated in Fashion and clothing design at Aalto University in Helsinki.
Lorenzo Sisi // Italy scooped the Bronze award with a long haired beaver, sheared beaver and black mink coat that combine the use of long hair fur. The Italian fashion design student graduated from IED focuses his interests on menswear.
All the three winners will have a Vogue Italia shooting of their garments in an editorial that will be published at the end of March on Vogue official website.
Each year, REMIX gives up-and-coming design talent from across the globe an opportunity to showcase their innovative designs to a highly influential, international audience and to receive global exposure across a range of traditional and online media channels.
Over 900 guests attended the event last night and among these, Chiara Ferragni – the founder of blondesalad.com – who wished good luck to all the finalists in the backstage.
The IFF would like to congratulate all the designers who entered REMIX 2015. We look forward to following what we are sure will be very successful careers in fashion design. All the designers taking part in the REMIX design competition are winners of their own national design competition, resulting in an outstanding level of innovative design at the final stage.
Thanks a lot to @Armando Melocchi from @Junglam Magazine @Camera della Moda for the invitation and to @ Alberto Collini!
